What is the WA Curriculum?

The WA Curriculum is the mandated curriculum for Western Australian schools, developed and maintained by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). It covers Kindergarten to Year 10 and sets out what students are expected to learn across eight learning areas.

While the WA Curriculum is closely based on the Australian Curriculum (ACARA), SCSA contextualises content descriptions, achievement standards, and scope and sequences to reflect WA educational priorities and local context. WA teachers use SCSA curriculum documents as their primary reference.

For Years 11 and 12, SCSA develops its own WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) courses, which are separate from the K–10 curriculum framework.
