What is the NSW Syllabus?
The NSW Syllabus is the mandated curriculum for New South Wales schools, developed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). It covers Kindergarten to Year 12 and sets out what students should learn across all key learning areas (KLAs).
The NSW Syllabus is organised by Stage rather than year level: Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten), Stage 1 (Years 1–2), Stage 2 (Years 3–4), Stage 3 (Years 5–6), Stage 4 (Years 7–8), Stage 5 (Years 9–10), and Stage 6 (Years 11–12). Each Stage has its own outcome statements and content requirements.
